The Safari in Brief

During the height of Tanzania's calving season, you can witness one of nature's greatest spectacles: the birth of approximately 8,000 wildebeest per day. Many predators, including lions, hyenas, and cheetahs, wait patiently at the right opportunity to pounce as newborn calves immediately begin rushing around.

7 Days - 6 Nights

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: One Hour Airport Transfer From Kilimanjaro International Airport to Arusha City

As soon as you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Victorious Vacation professional safari guide will be there to take you to your accommodation in Arusha. Arusha City, nestled between Kilimanjaro and Meru, is the jumping-off point for a safari into the African bush and the gateway to Tanzania's Northern Circuit of national parks.

Head out to see the sights and sounds of Arusha's local culture.

There are popular coffee tours for those interested in learning more about the cultivation, harvesting, drying, and roasting of coffee beans to create a wide variety of blends that are exported and enjoyed around the world. This activity is available for an additional fee and is suitable for those who are serious coffee drinkers.

Meals Included: Dinner

Day 2: Safari game drive to Lake Manyara National Park and Mto wa Mbu Village walk

Following a filling breakfast, your tour guide picks you up and drives you to Lake Manyara. Despite being one of Tanzania's smaller parks, Lake Manyara National Park has one of the greatest biomass densities of large mammals in the world due to its diversified vegetation, which includes grassland, marsh, and evergreen forest. Expect to witness numerous elephant families, countless flamingos, and even lions that can scale trees.

Keep an eye out for the baboons in this park, which can form groups with up to 200 individuals. After Lake Manyara game viewing, you will proceed for a cultural tour at Mto wa Mbu village. Get an inside look at the homes and exquisite crafts of Mto wa Mbu’s many tribes. Visitors will meet locals and learn about banana beer, Makonde wood carvings, and tribal painting techniques; the village provides a great introduction to everyday life in Africa.

After an active day, drive to your accommodation in Ngorongoro.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3 and 4: Drive from Lake Manyara to Ndutu

Prepare for a day filled with action as we leave after breakfast in quest of the herds. Spend the entire day watching more than 500,000 zebras, gazelles, and wildebeest give birth, with up to 8,000 occurring on any given day during the height of the season.

It shouldn't be a surprise that the number of predators in the area hits an all-time high with all these newborns wobbling around on their shaky legs. Predators like lions, hyenas, and cheetahs may prowl nearby, but an easy meal is not always guaranteed.

Every year, between January and March, herds progressively start to move south of the Serengeti when the rainy season begins. It is when calving season typically begins. Even though our knowledgeable guides will make every effort to locate the migratory herds, sightings are not guaranteed.

After being driven back to your lodging, you can unwind for the evening beneath a starry sky.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5: Immerse yourself in the Central Serengeti.

In the morning, we'll go on a game drive in the Ndutu area before continuing to the Serengeti National Park. When you first set foot in the Serengeti, you'll see a lush landscape full of life, with predators out and about looking for a meal. After an exciting day, your guide will bring you back to your lodge in Serengeti National Park in time for a five-course meal.

Relish the warmth of the campfire while swapping tales of the day's wildlife encounters with friends.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 6: Take one more moment to cherish the beauty of the Serengeti before making the journey to Ngorongoro.

You leave with your lunch for one more morning wildlife drive in the Serengeti after an early breakfast. Early dawn is frequently the greatest time to witness the excitement of the pursuit because few predators hunt during the heat of the day. Before we make the three-hour transfer to Ngorongoro Crater, take advantage of your final few moments in the Serengeti National Park.

Arrive at your lodging in Ngorongoro and get comfortable in your new environment, and then enjoy a delicious meal while gazing at the same breathtaking panorama.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 7: Descend to the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing, then proceed to Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Enjoy the sunrise over the crater before setting off on a day tour to see the unique wildlife within the crater's safety zone. The Big Five assembled here, and the crater walls make a beautiful backdrop.

After a day of sightseeing, depending on your international flight time, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.
