The Wildebeest Migration River Crossing - 9 Day Safari

The Safari in Brief

A wide variety of habitats implies a wide variety of animals and landscapes, making this tour suitable for first-timers and seasoned safari veterans. You can expect to see big cats and riverfront animals in addition to the red-dust-coated elephants and majestic "upside-down trees" (Tarangire's distinctive baobabs) the park is known for.

Then you may embark on a game drive in Ngorongoro Crater, where you have a good chance of seeing all five of the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant) in a single day. Spend the last three nights of your safari in a movable tented camp in the Serengeti, which moves around the savannah to find the best viewing spot for the wildebeest migration.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: One Hour Airport Transfer From Kilimanjaro International Airport to Arusha City

As soon as you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Victorious Vacation professional safari guide will be there to take you to your accommodation in Arusha. Arusha City, nestled between Kilimanjaro and Meru, is the jumping-off point for a safari into the African bush and the gateway to Tanzania's Northern Circuit of national parks.

Head out to see the sights and sounds of Arusha's local culture.

There are popular coffee tours for those interested in learning more about the cultivation, harvesting, drying, and roasting of coffee beans to create a wide variety of blends that are exported and enjoyed around the world. This activity is available for an additional fee and is suitable for those who are serious coffee drinkers.

Meals Included: Dinner

Day 2: The most beautiful African drive to Tarangire

Start your safari off well when your guide picks you up from Arusha and whisks you away to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire National Park is in the Manyara Region of Tanzania. The Tarangire River provides most of the park's fresh water, making wildlife sightings more likely as the animals congregate near the river. Warm, sunny days are perfect for viewing Tanzania's diverse wildlife, such as a herd of 300 elephants, wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, elands, and buffalo.

In time for dinner, your guides will bring you back to your hotel in Tarangire after an exciting day of exploring the wilderness.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3: Descend to the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing.

Enjoy the sunrise before setting off on a day tour to see the unique wildlife within the crater's safety zone. The Big Five assembled here, and the crater walls make a beautiful backdrop. After a day of sightseeing, you can relax with a few sundowners while gazing out at one of the world's most enchanting locations, and then enjoy a delicious meal while gazing at the same breath-taking panorama.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4: Visit the Olduvai Gorge hot site for archaeology and travel to the breath-taking Serengeti.

We get an early start today as we travel to the Olduvai Gorge, commonly known as the Cradle of Humanity, to get a glimpse into the past. Anyone interested in the history of our species will find this unique site fascinating. The morning spent here learning about the earliest bones of Homo sapiens discovered here by Mary Leaky will be time well spent. While we make the three-hour and thirty-minute drive to the Serengeti National Park, you can take it easy and rest in the comfortable seats.

This enormous park is home to various animals, from small herbivores to giant carnivores such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Enjoy dinner at the lodge where you are staying.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5 and 6: Immerse yourself in the Central Serengeti.

Take a full-day game drive through the Serengeti to see as much as possible. It is your best opportunity to see the Big Five in their natural habitat on the broad plains, and it will put you at the centre of some of the finest natural spectacles on the planet. Spend the entire day exploring the vast plains of Serengeti National Park while enjoying a great meal. Your guide will return you to your lodge within the national park after an exciting day in the wilderness, just in time for a delicious meal.

Gather 'round the fire and tell tales of your wildlife adventures throughout the day.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 7 and 8: We follow the migration footsteps in the North Serengeti.

After a delicious breakfast, we headed to the North Serengeti to see the herds as they searched for the most secure crossing point during the Great Migration. The Mara River, a boundary between Tanzania and Kenya, is a particularly dangerous part of the migratory route. It is the ideal spot to witness the most significant display on earth, with its millions of clattering hooves, crashing waters, and predators waiting on the other side.

Spend an exciting day touring the northern and southern sides of the River and witnessing the excitement develop among the migrating herds as they make their initial hesitant crossings and their final magnificent passage.

Sightings of the annual Serengeti wildebeest migration are not assured because they depend on the timing of the yearly rains. However, if you follow our knowledgeable guide, the months of July through October are your best bet for witnessing the migration.

You can see the Masai Mara plains in the north, while in the west, you can watch the sun go down. You are taken back to your lodgings within the national park after an exciting and emotional day so that you may unwind and gaze at the stars.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 9: Fly out from Kogatende Airstrip (Serengeti) to Arusha Airport.

On our last day in the Serengeti, we awoke early for one last wildlife drive. Due to the inactivity of most predators during the heat of the day, the early morning is frequently the best time to witness the excitement of the chase.

Please take advantage of your remaining time in the Serengeti National Park before we head to the Kogatende Airstrip to board a flight to Arusha Airport. We will then travel by road for one hour to Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Meals Included: Breakfast and Lunch
